First studio album recorded between 1994 and 2002, featuring instrumentation from Leo Chadburn (recorders, bass clarinet); Joe Zeitlin (cello), Matt Jones (lute, theorbo), Prince April (double bass), and the Wandsworth Chamber Orchestra (strings on London). Also featuring crowd vocals from Leo, Bonnie, April, Jo Apps and various late night losers in Camberwell on Lycanthropy, and hand claps courtesy of a wattle and daub doo-wop barbershop on A Boy Like Me.
Patrick Wolf uses: Harmonium, broken clarinet, viola, violin, vocals, baritone ukulele, Farsifa, Kawaii K-1, accordion, and guitar on this album.
The rhythms and noises taken from old four track tapes, late night Atari sessions, first sampler recordings and field recordings from Trafalgar Square; L’église Saint-Eustache, Wandsworth roundabout, Cimetière de Montmartre, St. Martin’s in the field, Primrose Hill, St. Ives bay, The National Portrait Gallery and various lo fidelity non-instruments gathered over the seven years then moved around, re-processed and cut up on a white glowing laptop over many a late night and early day.
